3 arrested, $116k of heroin, crack cocaine seized in major Binghamton bust

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Three Binghamton men have been arrested after multiple police agencies combined to carry out one of the largest heroin busts in our area's history.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant at 236 Clinton Street in the City of Binghamton Wednesday morning following a 'several month'-long heroin investigation.

Investigators say they recovered significant amounts of heroin, crack cocaine, and drug packaging materials as a result, and that several other search warrants were executed in relation to the investigation, as it is still ongoing.

They estimate the street value of the drugs to be approximately $116,000 ($100,000 in heroin and $16,000 in crack cocaine)

They say they recovered the following as a result of the search warrants:

  • 9.8 ounces of unpackaged heroin
  • 895 bags of heroin packaged for sale

  • a loaded 9mm handgun
  • approximately $43,000 of suspected drug sale proceeds

Binghamton Mayor Rich David says the investigation began with a tip from a neighbor.
