VESTAL, N.Y. - Catholic Charities of Broome County is making sure every family in our area has a plentiful meal for Thanksgiving.
The 20th annual Thanks for Giving Turkey Drive sponsored by I Heart Media and Wilkins RV takes place next week outside of the Vestal Walmart.
Mix 103.3 Morning Show Host Lori will spend the week inside the RV collecting turkeys and Thanksgiving Dinner fixings that are canned and non-perishable.
Nearly 3,000 families have signed up to receive a Thanksgiving dinner basket from Catholic Charities and the goal for this year is 4,000 turkeys.
Lori says without the community's help, many people wouldn't have a holiday meal.
"We all take it for granted that we all have a Thanksgiving dinner. We see year after year that a lot of families don't. This is a great way to help out. It's fun for us and fun for the people who come down and want to be a part of the experience," said Lori.
People can bring turkeys, sides, and monetary donations to the RV from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. all next week.
Last year, 3,000 turkeys were collected.
