The City of Binghamton has submitted its overdue financial documents to the state.

The audited financials and state single audit report for 2012 were completed on January 30th. The filing delays had been cited previously by credit rating agencies to downgrade the city.

The previous administration of Matt Ryan had blamed the missed deadlines on additional audits ordered by City Council following a rash of thefts by city employees. New Mayor Rich David says he is committed to ensuring that the city gets back on track with on-time reporting.

"Moving forward I'm working with the comptroller and the City's financial staff to ensure that the 2013 audit is completed on time, submitted before the deadlines," said David.

David says having reports filed on time should help the City improve its bond rating status.
