A Vestal School Board member is running for a seat on the Broome County Legislature.

Democrat Kim Myers is running for the District 4 seat which covers a portion of Vestal.

Myers is the daughter of Dick's Sporting Goods founder Dick Stack, and while she does not hold a leadership position in the company, she says she grew up working in the family business.

Myers has experience as a small business owner, having operated Kids Korner, a children's clothing store, in the 90's.

She says her many years on the school board, including nine as president, have prepared her well for the legislature.

"There are a lot of similarities. Fiscal responsibility, being mindful of the taxpayers' burden and what you can expect from them. As well as the needs of children in the school district and the needs of citizens in Broome County," said Myers.

Myers is married with six children.

Her husband Tim has worked for Dick's since he was 16, and currently serves as the liaison between the company and the golf tournament it sponsors which begins next week at En-Joie Golf Course.

Myers is running for the seat being vacated by Democrat Daniel D. Reynolds, who is running for Family Court Judge.

Republican William Kelley is also seeking the position.
