The two-term Republican, whose district extends from the Hudson Valley through the Catskills to include the Town of Sanford in Eastern Broome County, announced the formation of an Agriculture Coalition.
At an event at the farm of Robert and Joyce Bishop in Hamden, several farmers and the head of the Delaware County Farm Bureau endorsed Gibson.
The Congressman said he helped to craft the recently enacted bi-partisan Farm Bill.
Gibson said he makes agriculture a top priority.
"That means listening to farmers. That means actually getting first-hand experience on a farm. Then taking that experience and those voices and bringing them to Washington, DC," said Gibson.
Gibson said for the first time in 50 years, the number of farms in New York State is on the rise.
He faces Democrat Sean Eldridge in the November election.
