Tuesday afternoon, the Nichols casino announced that it will be building a spa, if it secures the Southern Tier's full fledged gaming license.
It will hire Ageless Spa, which already has locations in Corning and Horseheads to operate it.
The spa would likely be in Tioga Downs' amenities building, which it plans to build next to its future hotel.
"The spa here will offer services such as massage, facials, skin care and all that with an eye towards providing medically established and proven services so that the products that we offer are things that I'll have had an opportunity as the physician to have investigated and vetted," said Ageless Spa owner, Mike Cilip.
Tioga Downs also announced that it will host a networking business fair on September 12th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The goal of that event is to allow local businesses to showcase what they can offer the casino, which would expand if it secures the license.
And, NewsChannel 24 now knows the day when a comment meeting will be held for the gaming location board to hear from the public.
It will be September 24 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Hotel Ithaca on Cayuga Street in Ithaca.
People for and against the casino proposals can speak their minds.
You can reserve a time slot by emailing EasternST@gaming.ny.gov.
Only five time slots per hour can be reserved.
The rest of the speakers can take to the podium on a first come, first served basis.
