At Binghamton University's media day, the volleyball team showed lots of excitement as they prepare for a major test on the road.
A young squad is seeking a return to the America East Tournament after missing out last year.
Allison Hovie, an all-rookie selection last year, and senior setter Amanda Dettman are key returners this season.
The team last won the conference in 2012.
They are enjoying the process of becoming the cohesive unit that will get them back into conference play.
"We've got nine underclassman out of thirteen players. We've got good leaders though and they are doing a good job of really helping out the new people, making them feel comfortable and trying to make the team work together," said head coach Glenn Kiriyama.
"Experience always helps but the fire that a young team brings is easily comparable to experience. It's been great, we have loved it so far," said Dettman.
The Lady Bearcats open the season against four-time national champion UCLA on August 29.
